Long Covid Restorative Yoga Classes

This 6 week programme which is delivered via Zoom runs on a Wednesday evening at 8pm

Aim of restorative yoga class for long covid:

  • To offer safe exercise for people living with fatigue as per NICE guidelines. This class is suitable for people with fatigue/post exertional malaise (PEM) and POTs who are unable to engage in graded exercise programmes. 
  • To provide empathy and validation to participants regarding their experiences with fatigue and exercise intolerance.
  • To offer a supportive group for people living with long covid to reduce feelings of isolation with the condition. Lead by a Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist in Long Covid, with personal experience of long covid PEM. 
  • Participants learn how to “Self-Manage” long covid symptoms- tools on how to regulate the nervous system.
  • To teach participants breathing techniques to support their condition to support autonomic regulation.

  • To provide gentle stretches to support muscles which are commonly affected due to covid/breathing dysfunction.
  • Restorative yoga poses and breathing techniques used aim to lower heart rate to allow the body to fully rest.
  • Deep relaxation and rest states can improve fatigue, reduce pain and improve sleep quality.
  • Safe, supported space to rest & recharge. Modelling true rest to implement in day to day life to support both physical and cognitive fatigue.
