Counselling and Trauma Co-ordinator – Derry Well Women

Salary: £32,076 – Contract to March 2026 (Continuation dependent on further funding)
Location: Derry/Londonderry
The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring robust and effective management of all aspects of our high-quality and well-established Counselling Service.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the delivery of our Women’s Health and Wellbeing Services, to specifically include victims and survivors of the Troubles.
You will hold a professional qualification in counselling (minimum of diploma level) and be able to demonstrate your experience and skill in supporting vulnerable and marginalised client groups and your passion in promoting women’s health and wellbeing.
You will be able to build and nurture positive partnerships with a range of other organisations and agencies, both statutory and third sector.
You will have excellent communication and organisational skills and be able to demonstrate your ability to be an effective role model and strong leader to our counselling team.
Experience in relation to safeguarding and upholding confidentiality are also key to this role.
We will require you to have a flexible approach to your working week with possible support in the evening to meet the needs of the service.

Requirements for this position
1. Education and Knowledge – Essential
Recognised professional qualification in Counselling with minimum at Diploma level
Excellent knowledge of issues facing women communities, including women victims and those who may be particularly marginalised and vulnerable
BACP (or equivalent) accredited
Ability to make use of counselling supervision (evidenced by a counselling supervisor’s statement)
Up to date Keeping Adult and Children Safe training
Up to date ASSIST training
Up to date MHFA training
2. Experience – Essential
Experience of using CoreNet evaluation systems or equivalent
Experience in evaluating and monitoring health and well being programmes
Experience of conducting initial assessment sessions
Experience of working in a community setting and knowledge of the issues related to communities who have experienced high levels of trauma, health inequalities and disadvantage
Experience of managing safeguarding issues
Desirable
Experience of providing professional supervision (Individual/group)
Experience of managing counsellors or volunteers
Skills and Qualities
Essential
Excellent communication skills
Understand the importance of confidentiality and when it is appropriate to share confidential information
High level of computer literacy, including familiarity using Outlook, Office, Zoom/Teams, etc
Ability to work as part of a team, working with counsellors, as well as using own initiative
Excellent organisational and time management skills, able to manage, prioritise and plan in relation to service demand and own and others workload
Capacity to provide leadership, mentoring and support to Counselling staff
Ability to gather statistical information and produce high quality written work including evaluation and reporting
Personal qualities
Use of internal supports including induction, supervision and adverse incident reporting
Punctuality, reliability, flexibility and integrity
